5/26/2023 0 Comments Cult of the lamb switch![]() ![]() This includes the fact that your followers will most certainly die at some point, whether through old age, poisoned food, or even via ritual sacrifice. Graphically, your camp is lighter in color and brighter, compared to dull dungeons, but some aspects highlight a darker tone. ![]() This cute aesthetic helps lighten the tone of Cult of the Lamb, which certainly has its dark moments. You can rename and reclassify them as another animal, or recolor them to be any shade of the rainbow. Your followers take the form of adorable animals, from giraffes and zebras to donkeys, bunnies and even red pandas. It’s so original but rich in terms of quantity to do. Oh yes, animals will just poop on the floor until you build a bathroom, that is. They can also get sick, so you need to make sure to clean up after them. They argue, befriend each other, but don’t interrupt! – and even get upset if you wake them up too early. It is an absolute pleasure to collect them and watch your installations grow. The more you are worshiped, the more devotion points you earn, which unlocks even more ways to expand your camp. You can also decorate the area with unlockable designs, preach your daily sermon, and complete short quests on behalf of your followers. How do you keep them happy? By building beds for them to sleep in (otherwise it’s the floor tonight), feeding them, giving them a place to pray, and keeping the place generally clean. Keeping your followers happy is monitored by several meters on your screen, such as hunger and faith. Oh, and a jail because sometimes your followers are mean. You also need, uh, facilities to take care of their waste. Once you’ve acquired ten or more, things get complicated. Your work begins simply with only a handful of devotees. There are resources to acquire, seeds to sow, buildings to erect, and followers to keep healthy, happy, and loyal. While dungeons are fun, this aspect is where Cult of the Lamb really shines it’s like a twisted version of Animal Crossing. ![]() What seems like a dark and ominous task is actually a pretty cute exercise in management. ![]() These oversized enemies breathe fire, poison, or even smaller enemies at you, with plenty of rewards offered for defeat.Īfter successfully navigating your first dungeon, it’s time to create your cult. You can choose one of many paths on your way, with specific rewards on offer do you want more followers, better weapons or more supplies? Finally, each race ends with a boss fight. In true roguelike fashion, each race is different, with lanes and rooms changing accordingly. While the enemies aren’t too difficult initially, they get more intense as you progress, and there are four difficulty levels to give you more or less of a challenge. Your character can also dash, which is especially useful for dodging enemy attacks. This makes dungeons a great way to also find resources for your camp, like grass, stone, and wood. I had a great time hacking and working my way through the rooms almost anything can be demolished. You initially use a melee weapon, such as an ax or a sword, which differs with each run. Simple rooms and combat keep things moving quickly, with enough variance in enemies and obstacles to hold my interest. I’m not usually a fan of roguelikes, but Cult of the Lamb does it well. You’re faced with a series of rooms full of enemies to defeat, with each successful conquest resulting in a chest full of treasure. Your first mission is to fight your way through one of these dungeons. Cult of the Lamb excels in dividing itself between two distinct playstyles equally, balancing action-packed dungeons with the more strategic element of running a cult. This plotline certainly stands out, but it takes more than a single story to engage players. In exchange for being granted your second chance at life, you are asked to create a cult and defeat the four gods who hold the Waiting One captive. Instead of dying, you are resurrected by the sinister named He Who Waits, an ancient god trapped in the afterlife awaiting his return to Earth. You play as a lamb put to death by a legion of worshippers. ![]()
